Going for brunch at the weekend after a busy week is one of my favourite activities, especially in Glasgow. Merchant City is definitely the place to go, full of cafés offering some of the best brunch plates I've ever had!
I’ve made a wee list of some amazing cafés you can visit if you haven't already.
For those
that like to be organised, all of the cafés listed allow you to pre-book a
table online, saving you the hassle of walking around and trying to find a free
table.
Dog owners will be happy to know that all the cafés are also pet-friendly. So, bring along your furry friends to keep you company!
Wilson Street Pantry
No matter what time or day of the week it is, Wilson Street Pantry is always busy because it's just that good!
If you enjoy
sweet things for brunch, I can guarantee that the French toast will be some of the
best you’ll ever have!
Although I’m
no coffee expert, Wilson Street do an amazing flat white.
Located
along from Wilson Street pantry is the Glasgow Mural Trail’s ‘Bow Down, Honour the Roots’ mural. So why not take a wander
around the city centre after enjoying brunch and discover the remaining murals?
Brunch dish recommendation: French Toast with Berry Compote and Vanilla Mascarpone

Single-End
Single-End
are amazing at creating seasonal dishes, with their pumpkin spiced French toast
being the latest addition to their Autumn specials menu.
On arrival,
you’ll be greeted by a display case of cakes, biscuits and pastries – I would recommend
taking one home to enjoy with a cup of tea on the sofa.
The menu
features everything from scrambled eggs on sourdough to porridge with your
choice of toppings.
The walls
inside are decorated with artefacts from Glasgow and the glass tables feature photos
from previous customers, making a lovely addition to the café.
Brunch dish
recommendation:
Meaty Breakfast (poached eggs, lorne sausage, black pudding, tattie scone,
grilled tomatoes & baked beans)

Sorriso Café
I discovered
Sorisso Café when I was unable to get a table at Wilson Street Pantry. I wish I’d
been in sooner!
The dishes
at Sorriso are beautifully presented (perfect for Instagram) and bursting with
flavour.
If you’re
looking for an indulgent dish, make sure to try the Sorriso platter which
features French toast and a scone with whipped cream, berries and a poached
pear.
For those with less of a sweet tooth, Sorriso offers some great egg and sourdough dishes with a variety of toppings including smoked salmon and guacamole.
Brunch dish recommendation: Salsiccia Eggs (poached eggs, salsiccia sausage & red peppers on a toasted muffin with tomato & chilli jam)
